Police Chief
On December 11, 2006 Major Ralph Dawe was appointed Chief of Police of the Scottsboro Police Department. Past Chief of Police Keith Smith retired effective June 30, 2006.
Chief Dawe joined the Scottsboro Police Department in March, 1989. During his career with SPD he served as a patrolman for three years, and served in the Detective Division for 10 years. During those ten years he held the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain of that Division.

The City of Scottsboro is located at an altitude of 652 feet in the northeast portion of Jackson County of the Great State of Alabama. It is approximately 45 miles east of Huntsville, Alabama and approximately 60 miles west of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Scottsboro city limit incorporates a 54 square mile area, with a police jurisdiction of approxiamately 200 square miles. The population consists of approximately 16,500 people.
