Yvonne Yockel began her career with the City of Scottsboro Parks and Recreation Department in 1989 working as the special programs director. She served in that capacity until 1997 at which time she was promoted to assistant director.

Located near downtown, this wooded area provides nature trails throughout the park area. Within the park there are picnic tables, a pavilion with rest rooms and a small playground area. Art Sunday is an arts and crafts festival held the Sunday before Labor Day of each year and attracts many exhibitors and thousands of people.
