Yvonne Yockel began her career with the City of Scottsboro Parks and Recreation Department in 1989 working as the special programs director. She served in that capacity until 1997 at which time she was promoted to assistant director.

 Veterans Park consists of four lighted youth baseball fields, batting cage, press box/concession stand/rest room facilities and four tennis courts. Over 35 teams use this facility to play their regular season games. Various sub-districts, district and state tournaments have been held at this park.
