Fire prevention is an integral part of the Scottsboro Fire Department. The department provides fire prevention education such as fire extinguisher training, escape planning and fire safety tips for both businesses and individuals alike. Our fire fighters and fire trucks are available to visit the local schools for fire safety education. Tours are also available at any of our fire stations. Use the contact link for the phone number to request these services. The Fire Prevention Bureau is headed by Fire Marshal Chuck Bryant. Bryant has been with the department since 1993, and has served as Fire Marshal since 2006. The Fire Marshal conducts fire and life safety inspections in and for commercial buildings, residential structures, business licenses, certificates of occupancy, general fire safety inspections, fire drills, the installation or removal of underground storage tanks, and the enforcement of code infractions. The Fire Marshal is also responsible for new and existing building construction and renovations. These duties consist of pre-design assistance, design consultations, code review and interpretation according to 2003 ICC Building and Fire Codes and applicable NFPA standards, architectural plans review, and acceptance testing for all fire protection systems.
