Terry Thomas was elected to Place # 3 on the Scottsboro City Council on September 12, 2006. This was his first attempt to acquire public office in Scottsboro, Alabama.

After serving in the US Army from 1976-1979, Mr. Thomas returned home to Sylvania, Alabama and began his career in Law Enforcement with the Rainsville Police Department. He moved to Scottsboro, Alabama from Sylvania the winter of 1980 and began working for the Scottsboro Police Department. In December, 1985 Mr. Thomas joined the Alabama Department of Public Safety as an Alabama State Trooper. He is currently employed with the Alabama Bureau of Investigations.

Mr. Thomas has three children, all born and raised in Scottsboro, Alabama. He served the community for many years by volunteering in various ways. He was a volunteer at Caldwell School for twenty two years, coached baseball and soccer with the Scottsboro Parks and Recreation and served as Scout Master for Troop 444 for four years.
