As a 21-year Scottsboro Fire Department veteran, Chris White was named Scottsboro Fire Chief December 1, 2008.

Chief White began his employment with the City of Scottsboro more than 29 years ago. He joined the Fire Department just a few short years later. During his career with the department he served the community as a firefighter, driver/engineer, lieutenant and captain. His promotion to chief marked the retirement of the past chief, Melton Potter, who went on to become the city’s mayor. During his tenure with the department, Chief White worked many years under the direction of former Chief Lonnie Webb.

Chief White was born and raised in Scottsboro. He is an active member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He and wife, Kathy, have been married for 29 years. They have one son, Shannon.
